I’ve been meaning to take a minute and spill my guts about a huge revelation I had recently. For those who don’t know, we had a pretty amazing outing Friday night at Women Out in Worcester, and not too long after a life-changing morning at Buti Brunch – FFS Tribe!
Not surprisingly we were the “life of the party” at both events … because … duh? or better said, because … why not?
the revelation, however, was when I sat back and listened to our FRIENDz talk about our home this weekend. “we have so much FUN!” … “you get a discount if you bring your whole family!” … “we dance and sweat and we have no lights!” … “it’s a FREE and WELCOMING place” … “it’s our HOME” … “all shapes, ages and sizes are welcome!” … “we drink wine!” … “i bring all my kids and they play in the ball pit and with tutus while i dance!” … or when an innocent bystander stops by, smiles, and says “oh, that’s not for me, but thank you” … then they see us doing our thing on the floor and come running “oh i NEED to be a part of that!” or people walk by and say “i love watching you guys!” …
but do you want to know what no one said?
“we’re a gym” … “we lose so much weight” … “it’s such a hard workout” … “we do burpees” … “i dropped 10 sizes” … “it kept me fit through chemo” …
yet, all of that is true?
AND THAT WAS IT. Late sunday night I realized I one-hundred-percent achieved the single goal i ever had for our home.
I wanted a place that delivered fitness services so elite, that they were an afterthought. A place that had an environment where people felt like they were escaping the challenges of life and feeling FREE, and safe. A place that was, as Starbucks put it, “a third place” … it’s not work, it’s not your house … it’s your “third place.” A place that, when all else is said and done, TRULY improves your quality and LENGTH of life … but with what seems like little effort. When it’s fun, when you smile the whole way, when there are literally dozens of hands reaching out for yours … both literally and figuratively … it becomes the thing you always needed, but never knew.
with all of my heart and soul, i really believe “i made it” … and it is literally because of every single one of you. thank you. i hope you believe you’ve made it too.
